A Black Panther. Dark, sleek, & prone to rip a person to shreds at a moments notice.
Well, if you're not going to count being born in a time when there were no child labor laws…
It was a summer job. I was an "assistant" groundskeeper for the community I lived in. Assistant meaning that I, and one other person, did the work while our supervisor rode around in an air conditioned truck. Mostly painting hot, concrete tunnels on paths, raking, & a little lawn mowing. May have lost 10-15 pounds that summer. Ahh, memories.
1) Reading Is Fundamental – Not just an Elementary School slogan, but a truth within a truth. You need in depth info on how to prepare for the inevitable invasion. I’ve got two books that can help.
These will serve as your field guides in case you decided not to properly train for the war. Then again, it would probably be too late when the shit comes down.
2) Audio addendum – Yes folks, there is an audio addition to the proceedings. CNET’s The Real Deal podcast (normally a tech show) goes through the history of zombies and gives tips on how to stay alive in the impending war. You would do well to listen. Download the podcast here:
Real Deal 91 – Zombies
3) Internet resources – Know your allies in the fight. Get the need-to-know info on your enemies.
All things zombies – The name should be self explanatory. Your one stop shop for all things zombie
Humans United Against Robots – They’re cute, they do things that humans won’t, they’re quickly
becoming man’s other best friend. They also learn. Fast. And thanks
to use stupid humans, they are stronger, faster, and smarter than
us. I’m thinking the folks at Google are robots. Trust me on this.
Anyway, these brave men and women are using the machine to fight
the machines. Our very our Radio Free Robots, I guess. Check out
their Wikipedia page, also.
Look, I like robots as much as the next geek, and I’m sure that these engineers are governing their creations and building Kill switches into them. I’m okay with that…Ok damn that! You’ve seen the Matrix. You’ve seen the Terminator movies. You’ve seen the Night of the Living Dead, Evil Dead, and/or Resident Evil movies(well, maybe not the Evil Dead stuff). The minute we turn our back and get complacent, BOOM, we’re either somebody’s lunch or battery. We can’t let that happen people! I don’t know about you, but I’m trying to be here. Just remember, when it all goes down don’t let me see you with a bite mark or a Pacemaker. It’s on!
And of course, what’s a 4th and a BBQ without a nice big plate of RIBS. That’s right, the man, TGrundy is over there serving up Summertime at the Grill hot and fresh with a nice little collabo / competition at his Rhythms In Black Satin site. You gotta check it up.
Two more great mixes have been noted by Tgrundy in the comments. Definitely check out the Mixtress herself, DJ Diva’s Larry Levan Tribute and Soulrific’s Episode 14 on Infinite Ink. These are two sites you should be checking out anyway.
And actually, I’m going to throw in one more that’s pretty hot also. Go west and check out The Big La, Todd Kelley, over at Flowink.com for a head nodding Hip Hop mix called the Background Flow #7 that was done this week. Definitely another great site to check out.
There might be a couple of other sites i’m missing and I’ll add them here if I see them, but all this goodness shouldn’t be passed up. Should I even say that it’s enough to give you the Itis? 🙂
What are you waiting for? Get to going!
Have a happy 4th, just don’t forget what it’s really all about.
Yep, I’ve been tagged, you’ve been warned and it goes a little something like this:
The rules are as follows:
* link to the person that tagged you :
* post the rules on your blog
* share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself
* tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs
* let each random person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog
SinceKayos: The Kaotic one tagged me and the rules are above, here now are the deets:
1) have a HUGE stack of unopened, unwatched DVDs sitting near me that date back ohhh a couple or years (3-5ish).
2) I love cheese. I like Elbow Macaroni. I can’t STAND Macaroni & Cheese!
3) I can’t go a day without palming my wife’s booty. It’s not for good luck so much. It’s kinda like pulling the string on an Elmo Doll. I have to hear her say something about it.I should feel bad about the last one, but I don’t.
5) Every Sunday, I read the paper for the circulars, but they have to be in a particular order:
- Target /K-mart
- Dick’s Sporting Goods (and I have NO idea why)
- Toys R Us
- Staples /Office Max or Depot
- HH Gregg
- Circuit City
- Best Buy
6) I can’t be in a conversation with anyone with something they say triggering a song in my head (or me thinking something”dirty” about the situation). Mostly, it’s the songs.
and because I feel like it, I’m giving up another one.
Bonus: There are a couple of blog crushes I would soooooo love to meet one day.
So there. And now for the next victims. Just about everbody here has probably been tagged already, but I hadn’t seen posts, if so. Soooo Gee Double, Nobelle, Killah K, Dilly, Virtuous, and a special special for my girl, Mojito Mami, who need to be blogging anyway. Yea, I said it!
Now then, go and do the damn thing.
If you are seeing this, then you are up way too early or I haven’t taken this down yet. Chances are, it’s the latter.
I’ve had a cellphone for about a month and just thought to set it up for some mobile blogging should the need(or boredom) arrives. Since I haven’t been too consistent on the blog anyway, this might not happen much. I say that, but given how much time I Twitter(more on that soon), that’s probably not true. I am discovering very quickly blogging this way has it’s limitations. Anyway, if you’ve been to the site in the last week, you’ve noticed a post that could have very well come from this phone (and a side eye from a miss Dejanae (hate the fact that I can’t link proper from here) to whom I have to thank for the comment) that I have NO clue as to how it got sent last Saturday. I didn’t set it up that day, so it wasn’t from that. I own no, so I guess it’ll be a mystery.
I also set this thing up to post to my Flickr account(don’t bother unless you want see a bowl of Ice Cream I recently took (it’s in my favorite bowl, at least). At any rate, this has gone on far too long and my fingers are starting to cramp. This thing does a full keyboard, but still. May post pics of it. BTW, now do ya’ll see why don’t blog much about my personal life? Exactly. And miss Scribefire too…
This is sad news. I loved Levert growing up, and it was sad to hear about Gerald’s passing. This must be doubly hard for the Levert Family. Click through for more info. I didn’t what was going on with him… truly sad.
Sean had a pretty nice solo album called “The Other Side“. “Put your body where your mouth is” was fave of mine from it.
I’m thinking of pulling out this album and some Levert later on. I did compilation of there stuff a while back.
I’m hurt, because I look forward to CES coverage every year to gauge the coming gadget year. This year, there was a bigger biggest TV that NO one will ever buy (unless they own a stadium), and set top box that might be cool, but other than that, nada. Sorry, T, I tried. And people covering the show said the same thing, so I’m not alone. Now, that doesn’t mean that there won’t be anything coming around that might be cool, but it wasn’t announced there. So, my year is starting kind of on a down note gadget wise. However, I remain undaunted. I’m sure there will be some gadget I can’t afford that I will want. I’m already saving up for a couple of things I’ve been wanting for a minute now. It’s not the Apple Air that mac fans have been drooling over, that’s for sure.
On that, What’s the deal. It’s thin, whoopie? It’s a Mac, hooray? It’s not really heavy. It’s got ONE USB port, no user replaceable battery or hard drive? What is that about? I’m sure there are plenty of other Envelope thin, light, more functioning laptops out there. Probably cost way less, too. I’m looking for a laptop, if it was apparent. For now, I’ll just K.I.M. And If I couldn’t get further from the original point, I’m in the market for a Cellphone, too. Had one before they became popular, now I could stand to have one. Especially with this upcoming trip I have, but more on that later.
Anyway, back to the point. CES was meh. I’m disappointed, but I’ll be alright. That’s not why you came here, or maybe it is. At either case, you might be happy to know that while I have no real upcoming gadget goodies to gush about right, I do have some goodies to pass along. Think you’re going to like them (assuming that you haven’t already heard about them). And I shall. Proceed. and continue to rock them out…
After these messages… 😉
(now that I’ve gotten your attention…)
How’s thing? Cool. Yea, it’s been a while, but I offer no real explanation as to why. Put it this way, it’s not for lack of content. In fact, I am gearing up for my yearly ritual coming up. Thought I would bat this one out to clear off the dust from the keyboard. Actually, that’s a lie, because there isn’t a speck of dust on the keyboard. I’ve been been surfing around for the longest and I’ve come to a conclusion. There is a lot of ish out there on the ‘Net to check out. I’ve been trying to peep it all, but it’s a bit overwhelming. Now, I am not anywhere new to the web and it’s trappings, but it can still be a bit much sometimes. Porn doesn’t watch (or make) itself, you know. And really, there are more people writing more interesting blogs (personally) that put me to shame.
Now that’s not to say that I am ultra boring (except right now), but if you are coming here thinking you will been taken on a bizarre ride to the far side of my personal life, sorry to disappoint you. My life is not that exciting. I would say check out good people on the left or the links above for that. However, if you care to see the musings of a major minor geek and some possible good links to great music, check the left again…wait, I may be able to help in that department. Geez, I almost for about that. At any rate, that’s the state of state of things here. I haven’t completely dropped off the grid, just really doing more lurking, if anything. In fact, this pic…
may explain some things… Ok, it’s just an excuse to throw that LOLcat in here. I should be ashamed for that, but I’m not. There have been a couple of time wasters that I’ve gotten into also. Both are games. One is called Peggle.
Popcap Games – Peggle (Scroll down to find the free online version or go to MSN Games).
From the makers of Bejewelled, Zuma, and other simple crack, comes this. It’s the devil. And by that I mean it can be addictive for a
a seemingly strategy lite game. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Yea, I know. I don’t usually talk about games here, but you asked for this. Well, you didn’t ask, but I’m giving it to you anyway. I have been checking the music scene, but I’m gonna save that for another time (sorry Gee Double). What I’m really hoping that the one or two of you stick around (as if you hadn’t) for what I might have to say. If not, no worries. You’ll miss out on the geeky. And yes, that is supposed to denote that you are missing out on something good. So anywho, thank you for those who stuck around during my absence. I hope not to disappoint more than I already have. Oh and to answer a message that I just recently got, I’m really feeling Jill Scott’s latest, as well as a possible jaunt into the world of Macy Gray’s latest endevour. And I’m getting my Soul back, if that’s not enough. You don’t know what that means, but trust me you’ll like it. On that note, take this!!
