Musical orgy?? and other tidbits

Before I get into the actual post, I wanna call to you attention some things I just ran across. This might end up being a long post because it’s two in one. The second part has been held on to for a while and I’d figured i’d just throw it out now. So……

First off, I‘ve mentioned this before, but now it’s official. By the time you read this the new X-clan should be out. Go cop that! Here is a link from Honeysoul.com (where there are other previews) or you can go straight to MP3.com and stream it or X-Clan’s site. Makes no difference to me, just go.

Second, 9th Wonder is no longer with NC’s own Little Brother. The group is also trying to get away from their label. Read on that here. Why does this kind of remind me of the way that Slum Village was going? I can imagine how this went down being that the group didn’t seem to be getting as much spotlight as 9th Wonder’s production. We’ll see how the sound of the group comes out. It sounds promising with the producers they have on tap, but 9th’s sound just put them out there.

Finally, the Beastie Boys AND the Wu-tang Clan are coming out with new albums. The latter with a tribute to ODB. It just don’t stop and I, for one, am glad.

Now that that is out of the way, on to the post. It is music related….sort of. I dedicate it to The Mistress, Divine Lavender, and Missy. Don’t ask my why, just hope no one gets offended.

P.S. I did warn you, so if you need a break, do so and come back.

Who says sex and tech don’t mix. There are many examples of this, but I will just touch on these right now. Normally, I don’t talk sex or toys in this spot and there is just one thing I have to say about that. It’s about DAMN time I did. Hell, it’s the only thing I hadn’t covered around here and outside of tech, it’s my favorite subject. I come across stuff all the time, but never mention them.

Anyway, ladies, do you like music? Do you like to have a little “me time” while listening to some? Sure, you can grab a rabbit, turn on the radio and have at it but why stop there? Why not have something for that night out or long trips? Yes, friends, we are talking about music (or voice) activated vibrators. Plug in your favorite music playing apparatus, then plug the device on or in to yourself and turn on all parties involved. Now, since I don’t know of anyone who has tried these, nor do I know of any guinea pigs who would allow me to tape them using them test any of these out for me (well maybe I know one).
If you are looking, these are for you.

First up:

iBuzz – the music activated iPod sex toy

(UPDATE) I see there is now an IBuzz Two on the market. Now you can share. REALLY. 🙂 And here is some video!

Next: The Audi-oh! I love that name, I tell you. Here is a description from Gizmodo.

Gizmodo – click on through.

But wait, there’s more. Well, at least one more.

Last, for now, is the OhMiBod. This joint looks like a tampon, no two ways about it. The scroll wheel on the Ipod controls the vibration.

OhMiBod Music Powered Vibrator – iPod vibrator, mp3 vibrator , sex toy, vibrator …

You know, I shouldn’t even have to say much more. These items kind of speak for themselves.
Need help with a playlist? No, you don’t, but here are some suggestions:

“Get it Up” by The Time
“Oops” by Tweet
“Come”, “Insatiable”, “Get Off” or any number of other songs by Prince
“I Touch Myself” by T-Boz or any number of people. Or, as a co-worker of mine suggested, “Start me up” by The Rolling Stones.
“How can I ease the pain” – Lisa Fischer (the high note near the end should be something.)

Actually, i’d like to see TGrundy or Grantlove hook something up for this. Now, that I think about, I probably could too. I’m sure, though, that the lucky person using these devices could come up with suitable playlist for their experience. If anyone does try any of these, PLEASE let me know! better still, give me your suggestions for songs. I really want to know what you’d use (or want someone to use).

It’s the perfect gift for those who like to come on the go…without going too far.

Want list wrap up

First of all, I want to say thanks to the one or two people (if that many. I hadn’t been able to get my metrics) that stuck with me through my geekfest last week. I will be returning to my regular geekfest after this post. Right now, I present some of the last few notables of the stuff I’m still looking through from the coverage.

Good for the nest of power cables behind the stereo equipment (or in my case, the two computers I have connected in addition to) and/or home theater system you might have. Every plug has it’s socket, just like sex.

LV VX9400 (i’ve mentioned this one before)

Not much to say about this. It’s a cellphone. A sweet looking, screen flipping, TV capable cellphone. Yep, you should be able to catch [Insert show of choice] when at [Insert event] or doing [I really don’t know]. Now, before you get too excited, Verizon is starting a TV service to go along with the phone (and another one) so what channels you will have depends on that, I believe.

Nokia N95 – Another cool cellphone. Looks lika a PDA. Might be as cool as the iPhone I keep seeing things about. It’s not in the States yet, so holla when it it is.

I got nothing else, so you can wake up now. As I said, we now return to our regularly scheduled geekery.

You cannot escape the monopoly (old news now)

No matter what side of the US you are on you have to had dealings with either Bellsouth or AT&T. They used to be the same company for phone service and in parts cellphone service and was broken up in 1984. The reason, they were becoming a monopoly (and not the game, either). Now they are back together again like Roberta and Donny.

FCC approves $87b AT&T + BellSouth merger: now what? – Engadget

What does this mean? For phone service, not much unless you get into Voice over IP service like Vonage (AT&T is said to have or will have one too). You can’t move too many places that Ma Bell hadn’t touched. Cellphones, you’re still kinda screwed. If you were an AT&T wireless person when they got eaten by Cingular, say hi to and old friend. AT&T is reclaiming Cingular and changing it’s name back to AT&T wireless. (the formerly known as) SBC is a part of AT&T and I believe Suncom was leasing network from AT&T. Maybe Alltel too, who knows. As far as cell service, I think that leaves Verizon as a contender and number 2 in service. Well except that Verizon was once Bell Atlantic Mobile which is a Bellsouth property.

The moral of the story for you? If you plan on changing phone services (particularly cell phone), make sure you research the company to see if you are not leaving the company you are going back to. What goes around, comes around I guess.

I could be wrong about a couple of statements, but I will correct them upon further review.

Want list item #1 (yes please!)

I’ve seen the first model of this computer a while ago and I liked it then. The problem, it cost a lot and was a first generation product which mean there where issues with it (battery life and processor speed being the biggest). That may have changed with the Model 2 computer from OQO. Now you say, big deal, it’s a computer. WTF? Here’s the scoop. It’s WAY smaller than a laptop. A little bigger than a Blackberry, Treo, or PDA, and it’s a FULL FLEDGED COMPUTER! No more lugging laptops (and possibly cellphones) with this thing around. It has a failry big hard drive, full keyboard(if smallish), Bluetooth, integrated high speed internet (EVDO for those who know), pen based touch screen capabilities, and a nice looking screen for the size. You could output that screen to a bigger monitor with the HDMI or VGA ports that this thing has. You need a DVD drive, there is an optional dock to hook this up to. What more would you want, breakfast? Your lazy ass has to do something for yourself. For computing on the go, this could be it. Problem is, it’s GOT to be expensive and the battery appears to still not be there, but it can run Windows Vista. Just check it out and see what you think. Feel free to buy me one if you like. I won’t mind.

Now here, I thought, was a good idea…

How many times have you told yourself, “Damn, I don’t have anywhere to put any speakers” or ” I don’t want theses speaker wires in the way or showing? Well, this and a couple of other designs are supposed to change that.

Induction Dynamics’ SolidDrive SD1 turns your wall into an OK speaker – Engadget

I’ve heard about the sound induction technology behind this before. Basically, you use the surface that you are placing the “speaker” on AS the speaker. So, if you put this on a table, the table becomes the speaker. Put it on, or in, a wall that wall becomes the speaker box. If you are in an apartment, turn it around and fuck with your neighbors (kidding). It’s a interesting idea but according to the article, it’s kinda blah. If they can work that out, it’ll be cool. Check it out anyway.

Everybody needs a chess set, right? Hell yeah! So why not have one that’s USB powered? Brilliant! Just think you, yes you, can have a chess set that you can roll up and take with you to that house party you’re going to this weekend. Break it out, plug it into the USB port on the computer that is SURE to be in the middle of the dance floor, set it up, and challenge any fool who dares to try to bring it you. It’s perfect. Or if you want to get away from folks and have a “private” game of strip chess with that special someone (or yourself if like yourself that much. and you should) near the computer upstairs in the office, do it. The world is your oyster with this:

The roll-up USB chess set – Engadget

Personally, as the article says, if you are into chess (it’s a good game), there are other easier ways to go about it. I present to you my personal choices:

Yahoo (gotta sign in), or MSN games

Let Grandmaster (not in the rap sense, but the actual sense) Maurice Ashley teach you. If you can find it, there is a pretty good CD-Rom game that can teach you. It is also by him. Not saying that I have this, mind you, but it is good.(*ahem*) So I hear.

Teach your children, too.

And Windows Vista will have it automatically when it ships, not that anyone cares. Don’t ask me how I know this.

2nd Annual Geek Week starts now

I’m a little late with this. Every year around this time, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) comes around. Another event, the Macworld Expo, also comes around this time. Macworld shows off new Apple products. This is their first big show of the year. I don’t have a Mac or and Ipod, but I will take a look and see what coming up. I don’t cover it like I do CES. Fanboys and girls drool like I do over CES. CES is a big trade show that shows off a lot of the new and notable items, like TV’s, cellphones, computers, stereos, mp3 players, Tivo and Tivo like products, and a whole bunch of other goodies that will come out during the course of the year. Pretty much every brand name you can think of is there and it pretty much marks the start of the Geek New Year. If you like gadgets and other consumer electronic items, this is the show to look forward to every year. I wish I could have been there. That’s something I have been working on for the past year or two. In fact, if I had any New Year’s resolutions, it would be to travel to shows like this and a couple of Jazz Festivals that I’ve been wanting to hit. Needless to say, I’m starting out wrong. Oh, one other note, CES happens in Vegas and also comes at the same time as a certain Porn convention. Coincidence, I think not. We all know Porn and tech go hand in hand. We wouldn’t have had VHS or dad’s if it wasn’t for porn (it’s true, sort of). Now you see another reason why I want to go. 🙂 And you know, PART of what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

Anyway, this year’s CES started Monday and goes through Thursday. And in according with this yearly event, I scour the coverage of the show from a couple of different places. That’s all you really need unless there is a place specializing in video (which there is).

CNET, a site I seem to reference a lot is there in force with their coverage (it’s what they do).

CES 2007

And Engadget, my favorite gadget site, is also there in full force.

Engadget CES 2007

Both places are Live blogging various press conferences where the BIG new products are being unveiled for the first time. Alot of

good lustworthy stuff comes from these places and that’s where this comes in. I sift through the coverage and pick out the stuff that I’m drooling over…or just want badly. Thus, my “want list” for the start of the year. It’s supposed to be comprised from stuff throughout the year, but the majority comes from CES. If fact, I see a couple of things that I plan to look into a little more thoroughly to talk about. Most you may not care, a couple of you might. It’s fine either way. If ’07 goes the way I think might, the content here in the blog might run all over the map anyway (and surprise a few of you). bear with me or ride with me this week. You might see something you like. From what I see right now, the word on everyone’s lips is iPhone. I may give my impressions soon. It looks pretty neat, actually.

Attention all shoppers, Pt 2 – Geek bearing gift guides

Twas the week five days before Christmas
and all through the town.
People are scrambling for gifts,
and knocking others down.

Ok, so that wasn’t my best rendition, but you get the point. It’s crunch time, and i’m here to help. If you’ve gotten your shopping done, Hoorah! If not, join the club. Anyway, when I first started blogging last year, I put out a similar post on the different Holiday gift guides on the web, so this could be an annual event. And since I know time’s precious (and I have to go to work in a few), let’s get it going.

First up: For the tech inclined (like me)

CNET does a gift guide every year. It’s broken down all nice and neat into categories. There’s even video and podcasts to go all with it. Some of he videos were from their recent Holiday Helpdesk that was streamed a couple of weeks back. Should have told you about it then.

Holiday Gift Guide 2006 – CNET.com

EngadgetEngadget’s Holiday Gift Guide! – Engadget

I love this site, in general. If you are a gadget lover, this is the place for news. Their guide is broken down by person (Mom, Dad, Him, Her, etc). Nicely done.

DL.TV – Episode 114: Our first annual Holiday Shopping Guide! – DL.TV

DL.TV is a web video show hosted by two former Tech TV hosts. Great show in general. Good stuff.

Also check the Gadgettes podcast, They drop names of gadgets like it’s going out of style. They even did a non denominational holiday gift podcast.

For the gamers in the house (like me)

1up.com2006 Videogame Gift Guide from 1UP.com

Great gaming site (of which I have a blog page on). Their guide is broken down by platform (PS2, Xbox, etc).

Gamespot.comGameSpot Holiday Gift Guide – Gifts for Gamers

Another great site. Part of the CNET Networks (redundant I know). Their guide is also broken up by platform.

For the sexually inclined (yea me too)

SFGate.com (the online side of the San Fransisco Chronicle – Sexy Holiday Shopping Guide

Admittedly, I didn’t spend much time on this one as I should have.

Author, columnist, geek, machinist, (audio, video, and text) blogger Violet Blue has some suggestions on what to put under the tree… or anywhere else you want to stick something. Hopefully, I hope to add more to this section later.

I found this link from a couple of weeks back. It has links to other sex themed holiday guides (useful year round). check out: Viviane’s Sex Carnival: Gift guides roundup.

For the music lovers (note the theme here people) –
Admitted, this is another section I didn’t spend much time but still are worth checking out.

MP3.com – MP3.com Holiday Gift Guide – CDs, Music Downloads, and Accessories
Also a part of the CNET family. good site laid out by genre and has a section for MP3 playing hardware (probably Ipods, but I could be wrong).

Allmusic.com – allmusic ((( 2006 Holiday Buying Guide )))

Music site where I link to quite often when I do music related posts (which I’m past due on). Guide done by genre, of course. I think MP3.com borrowed reviews and such from Allmusic.com. A lot of places do.

For the TV lovers
(not so much me)

TV.com – TV.com Holiday Gift Guide – DVDs, Sountracks and Electronics

If it’s not painfully obvious what this site is about, then allow me to redirect you to another site. Anyway, it’s another CNET property. Usually hit them up for show recaps and whatnot.

And (for now), there you have it. I may stick in one or two others should I come across anything in the next day or two. Hopefully, this will give you some ideas to go off from. If not, you are on your own.

Happy Holidays!

Update to last post

I mentioned last post about a deal for Verizon wireless customers (or any interested parties therein) for the Treo 700 at what ended up to be a reduced price with 2 year (with data) plan. I also mentioned that there was the possibility of new Treos coming out real soon. This has partially been confirmed here:

Treo Nitro and Treo Lennon coming to Cingular in October – Engadget Mobile

Why I say partially is because these Treos are upgrades to the already existing 700s. Plus, these are for Cingular and I’ve already mentioned the Sprint one. T-mobile and Vodaphone are getting one and since there was alledged to be 4 announced, then last one should be for Verizon. Hence the deal previously mentioned. Basically, they will have more usable memory plus no antenna like the ones that are out do. It has been said that some current 700 power users aren’t going to like the fact that there will be a new one with more usable memory than they have, but hey, that’s what you kinda get for early adoption. But there is a possiblity that might be worth checking out.

On the Palm website in the Treo store, there is a page where you can find out about trading up your Treo to a new one:

Treo Store: Palm Trade in Program

I’ve been thinking about this a second. I’m interested in getting a Treo, but I’m torn about waiting to see when a new one would come out for Verizon or grabbing the current one for a reduced price. So here’s my thinking: Suppose you took advantage of the previously mentioned rebate and got a Treo. Waited a few months until after the new Treo comes out on Verizon (if you were already a customer), then buy it from Palm’s website, which you would have to do to for the trade in, then trade in your old one for whatever the value is on it. It could possibly still work out better than just waiting and buying the brand new one. The only stumbling blocks are 1) There is no guarantee that you will get that much for your trade in but you can get a quote to see what you will get. 2) I’m not sure what Verizon’s (or any carrier’s) policy on changing phones are. I know most places say that you can get a new phone very two years if you re-up with them. I’ve also heard of people buying new phones every 6 months or so. I have a cousin who does that and barely knows how to use the one she has.

All in all, it’s a curiosity I’m working on. I have until September 10th to decide what I am going to do. Until then, I’m thinking about it. By the way, the trade in program through Palm looks as though it’s been in place for a while and can be used at any time in case any of you Treo users want to upgrade. You know who you are!
